John Kapenga Painting is a licensed and insured local painting company specializing in walls, trim, cabinetry, and more. Because of my passion for reducing my impact on the environment, I strive to use only low or zero-VOC paints and finishes. I am also certified to work in homes with existing lead paint, using safe painting practices to insure the safety of my clients.
I began painting while I was in high school, working for a painting contractor in Holland, MI. We primarily worked on new custom home construction along the Lake Michigan shoreline. I continued to paint during college and in 2008 graduated from Calvin College with a degree in International Development. Soon after that, I started John Kapenga Painting. My wife and I ran our business in Grandville, MI, but served clients all over the greater Grand Rapids area for the next 8 years. During this time, my wife was pursuing her own career in ministry. In 2016, we decided to leave Michigan for a ministry opportunity in Carlisle, PA. After starting a new painting company and working in Pennsylvania for two years, my wife accepted a job opportunity in Sparks, NV. Unfortunately, the position in Nevada did not work out, so we decided that it was time to move back home to Michigan. We now live and operate out of Byron Center, MI. Amidst these transitions, remains a cornerstone of our services, ensuring quality and satisfaction for our clients.
I primarily use Repcolite, Sherwin Williams, and Benjamin Moore paints as I believe the best products will save my clients the most money in the long run. If you are in need of a painter, I hope you will consider John Kapenga Painting.
